Whimsigirl Outpost

Drawing on formal architectural forms and mid-century modern details, Whimsigirl‘s outpost at Bangsar Village II was conceived as an unconventional retail, almost theatrical experience. Volumes dressed in limewash paint, deep skylights, and large steel apertures frame each experience as you move along.

Aligning with the brand’s love of producing timeless modest-wear that injects a small detail of fun in every collection, the interior draws inspiration from renewing elements of local Malaysian nostalgia to create a refreshing perspective. Sky blue mosaics, usually used in local ‘kopitiam’ eateries was laid in a corner of the store, creating a book club & event space when not in use for retail. Mid-Century details like timber trims and round wooden handles were recreated using local Nyatoh wood, set in contrast against polycarbonate screens and rattan rugs.
